POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

The Health, Wellness, & Counseling (HWC) Psychologist’s primary responsibility is to assist in the provision of mental health services to the student population. This includes providing individual and couples counseling; crisis management; outreach; and diagnostic assessment regarding problems relating to stress, developmental issues, academic achievement, interpersonal concerns, and other mental health issues common within a University setting.

Additional responsibilities include consultation with university personnel as well as assistance with departmental, divisional and university programs within the larger focus of student affairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD, PsyD, or equivalent advanced certificate in Psychology
  • Currently licensed as a psychologist from national or regional accrediting body
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of three year’s work experience as a practicing licensed psychologist with individual and couples counseling, preferably with 2 of those years in a college counseling center.
  • Knowledge of Counseling Center policies and procedures, goals, and professional standards as well as standard ethical guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of therapeutic treatment modalities for topics of relevance to a graduate level university population.
  • Able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment; works independently yet successful in a team setting.
  • Strong knowledge of risk-assessment process.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student population and the ability to understand the unique impact of societal expectations and family dynamics.
  • Expertise in student counseling, outreach, crises management, and clinical assessment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written skills. Fluent in English. 
  • Experience with Titanium or similar electronic record systems.
