Join a vibrant campus community whose excellence is reflected in its diversity and student success. West Chester University, a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, is seeking to hire licensed counselors and psychologists for the Department of Counseling & Psychological Services (The Counseling Center).  These positions are full-time, tenure-track, 9-month positions within the Division of Student Affairs, awarded as one of the "Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs" by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education for the second year in a row.

The successful candidate in this non-teaching faculty position will be primarily responsible for providing mental health counseling to the West Chester University student population, presenting with a range of psychological concerns.  The candidate must be proficient in providing short-term individual treatment, group therapy, crisis work, and outreach programing across campus.  Supervision of graduate-level trainees may be expected.

Attention to the diverse needs and backgrounds of WCU students as well as an ability to collaborate with department counselors/psychologists, psychiatrists and other University health care professionals is a must.  Because this is a tenure-track non-classroom faculty position, the selected candidate will be expected to engage in ongoing scholarly activities (e.g., obtaining or maintaining professional licensure/certification relevant to one’s discipline, professional publications and presentations) and to participate in service across the university.

To be eligible, an applicant must be licensed as a Counselor or Psychologist in Pennsylvania (or have Pennsylvania license eligibility).  Clinical experience in a university counseling center setting is preferred.

Additional clinical work will be expected on a rotating basis within the department during the summer months with extra compensation.

Review of applications will begin in March 2020 and continue until the position has been filled.  Campus interview candidates must successfully complete the interview process to be considered a finalist.  The filling of this position is contingent upon available funding.  All offers of employment are subject to and contingent upon satisfactory completion of all pre-employment criminal background checks.  Developing and sustaining a diverse faculty and staff advances WCU’s educational mission and strategic Plan for Excellence. West Chester University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.  Women, minorities, veterans, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Clinical experience in a university counseling center setting is preferred.

This position begins August 2020. Salary is based upon the schedule established by the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement (see page 86, pay range Q01 for the instructor scale).

Interested individuals may apply by going to the West Chester University job page:   Please submit a cover letter, a current vita, and the names and contact numbers for three professional references.
