Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor/Dean of Students this position is responsible leading/managing our wellness programing efforts in the areas of Drugs and Alcohol, Sexual Assault Prevention, Suicide Prevention, and healthy lifestyle, providing individual counseling sessions, and managing/coordinating disability services case loads (~50). Time allocation is primarily wellness programming, followed by disability services and counseling. This position works collaboratively with the other Counselor/Disability Services Coordinator and maintains partnerships with community organizations. This position will have offices on both campuses and time allocation on each campus will vary based on needs.

Responsibilities and duties:

·         Presents outreach education to students on topics that are relevant to their emotional and social well-being. Coordinates and arranges outreach activities, including promotion of programs offered.

·         Manages mandatory online wellness programing for students

·         Conducts training programs for Residence Life (e.g. RAs, RDs) and to staff and faculty, in order to educate the campus on mental health and developmental issues.

·         Coordinate Disability Services for 2-year campus and 4-year campus; includes case management, managing peer note-takers, working with faculty/staff to ensure proper accommodations are provided.

·         Provides psychotherapy to students. Makes referrals to on and off campus professionals and, when necessary, coordinates care with psychiatric providers.

·         Helps manage any crisis situations

·         Consults with students, faculty, staff and parents regarding mental health issues and the well-being of students.

·         Abides by applicable State and Federal laws, licensure requirements and professional codes of ethics.

·         Documents, organizes and manages client records in accordance with professional standards and state and federal laws.

·         Analyze data, generate periodic reports (monthly, semester, annual)

  • Master's degree by start date in public health, behavioral sciences, social sciences or related field
  • One (1) years of work experience in the functional area of mental health, well-being and/or health promotion

·         Must be licensed or able to be licensed as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or as a Licensed Clinical Social worker by the State of Montana within 90 days of employment.  


·         Knowledge of Microsoft suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

·         Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations

·         Demonstrated commitment and ability to practice open and effective communications with students; University faculty, staff and administration;

·         Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks, and use good judgement in providing services based on goals.

·         Ability to work under limited or minimal supervision

·         Ability to analyze data and write reports



·         Two years of work experience in the functional area of mental health, well-being and/or health promotion

·         Experience working in higher education in one of the student services program areas

·         Experience with the American Disabilities Act

·         Experience with Traditional College Age population (18-24 yrs. old)

·         Experience managing grants
