POSITION DESCRIPTION

Manages overall training program by leading the APA accredited internship in health science psychologist training and overseeing the practicum training program. Implements the training program which includes scheduling and organizing seminars, designing and implementing the intern orientation program, assigning supervisors, and facilitating the evaluation of the doctoral psychology interns which adheres to the guidelines and standards determined by the accreditation organizations including APA and the Association of Professional and Postdoctoral Internship Centers (APPIC). Oversees the yearly report of the internship program to outside agencies as needed. Prepares required documentation for regularly scheduled APA Accreditation site visits. Organizes the procedure for the selection of psychology interns from a nationally qualified pool. Documents and authorizes the outcome of the internship training for psychology interns' home departments and for state licensing boards of each intern. Represents the internship program at regional meetings, the national conference for coordinators of internship training (ACCTA), and through ongoing correspondence with APPIC. Co-supervises secretarial and web-based services for the internship program.

Participates in outreach activities to the campus community and provides service to the campus community as requested by the Director or Lead Clinician.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a bachelor's degree and three to five years of relevant experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology. 1 year of experience coordinating a program. 5 years experience working at a university counseling center. Year of internship can be substitued for one year of experience.
Possession of a full-license as a doctoral-level psychologist for 2 years. If not currently licensed in Kansas, has a 2 years license as a doctoral-level psychologist in another US state and meets eligibility for and plans to obtain a Kansas license for independent practice as a psychologist within a negotiable time frame.Two years of demonstrated administrative, planning, and/or supervisory experience in a clinical setting.
• Be a member of the American Psychological Association and familiar with APA doctoral internship accreditation procedures.

• Be team-oriented, “user-friendly” to students and university staff.
• Have the ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advance planning.
• Possess a strong work ethic and a willingness to collaborate.
• Be multi-culturally competent, possessing the ability and skills to work with diverse populations (ethnic, LGBTQ, gender, etc.).
• Have strong “generalist” clinical skills in assessing and intervening with a wide range of disorders, concerns, and degrees of pathology in treatment utilizing a time limited model of care.
• Possess strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Be available and willing to attend occasional evening or weekend activities.

 
COMPENSATION

$56,900.00 - $79,160.00 annually
