Job Description Summary
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) seeks an energetic and dedicated Behavioral Health Consultant with a clinical background and experience in college counseling or an equivalent setting. CAPS is a multidisciplinary center providing service to undergraduate, graduate and professional students. This professional will function as a member of an integrated care team based at Student Health. This professional will provide a range of clinical functions within Student Health and CAPS and serve as an important bridge between the units. This clinician will report to the Medical Director of Student Health Services and the Senior Clinical Director of CAPS.

The recently expanded program for Health & Wellness is part of an integrated approach to wellness that includes Student Health Services, Campus Health and Drug and Alcohol Programs, and Counseling and Psychological Services. The Department of Student Wellness is composed of a multidisciplinary team of professionals including psychologists, social workers, counselors, consulting psychiatrist, nurses, consulting physicians, and a team of graduate assistants.

Job Description

Responsibilities will include assessment and diagnosis of behavioral health concerns and needs in the primary care setting; assessment of needs of primary care providers; development and presentation of psycho-education to integrated team on role of Behavioral Health Consultant and understanding behavioral concerns as they relate to medical presentations; provide targeted interventions to patients; provide ongoing treatment planning and interface with other providers when indicated; evaluate crisis presentations and intervene as needed; serve as a liaison between departments in the service of enhancing collaboration; participate in Wellness Department meetings in the service of role definition and program planning. The other half of responsibilities occur at CAPS and include: initial assessment, individual psychotherapy, group facilitation, crisis intervention, consultation, and outreach and prevention.

This clinician is expected to adopt some flexible work hours during the week to accommodate evening shifts and participate in a rotation for Saturday coverage 10-3.
