The University of California, Irvine Counseling Center is accepting applications for two Postdoctoral Fellow positions. The individuals in these positions will receive clinical supervision necessary to accrue post-doctoral hours required for CA psychology licensure.

In this position, the Postdoctoral Fellow will provide and/or participate in the following services with an emphasis on multicultural counseling and issues of social justice:

Individual, couples and group psychotherapy

Crisis intervention services and technological interventions

Case management

Conduct intake assessments

Participate in case disposition meetings

Participate in Center committees

Provide campus-based consultation and outreach

Design and deliver workshops to college students

Provide culturally relevant psychological services to a diverse student population, including but not limited to students within the African American/Black student community and/or LGBTQ student community

The UCI Counseling Center has a long history of providing psychological services to the UCI campus community. UCI is a multiculturally rich environment and the Center prides itself on a staff that is competent and diverse. The Counseling Center provides time-limited treatment, assessment, outreach, and crisis intervention to the campus community. Experience working within a college or university counseling center as a psychology practicum student or psychology doctoral psychology intern.

Cultural competence in working with students from diverse backgrounds including those who are ethnic and racial minorities; lesbian, gay, bi, and transgender; international, differently-abled, religiously diverse, of varying ages, of varying socio-economic statuses.

Strong clinical skills; training and experience in providing individual, group, and couples psychotherapy.

General knowledge of psychological assessment.

Experience and competence in providing campus-based consultation and outreach.   Experience and competency in workshop design and delivery. 

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Basic computer skills, including the ability to use paperless clinical record-keeping methods.

Completed a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited academic program prior to the program start date.

Completed an APA accredited internship program prior to the program start date.


Ability to provide supervision and training to interns and peer/student staff.

Experience related to the coordination, supervision, or program development of a Peer Helping Program such as a student coaching, peer education, or peer mentoring program.

Skill in effectively communicating with staff, interns, and peers.  Ability to maintain a cooperative approach in the care of students.

Preference is given to applicants who have completed an APA accredited or APPIC internship and an APA accredited doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology by the start date.

Salary is: $50,000
