POSITION DESCRIPTION

Marist College

Clinical Counselor, Office of Counseling Services (Remote, Temporary, Part-Time)

The Marist College Office of Counseling Services seeks a qualified applicant who will serve as a generalist who possesses interest and specialized clinical experience working with students who identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and other underrepresented students. The ideal candidate understands the impact that experiences of marginalization, inequity and discrimination can have as well as an understanding of intersectionality of diverse identities. This position will work 100% remotely and will provide tele-mental health counseling to our students.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program or Masters in Social Work or Masters in Mental Health Counseling; Licensed or licensed-eligible in New York; At least three years clinical experience, preferably with young adults and/or college students

Robust clinical skills; Experience working in University Counseling Centers or with young adults in clinical settings; Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; Demonstrated clinical expertise and training experience serving BIPOC and other underrepresented populations, with an understanding of the intersectionality; Familiarity with electronic medical record (e.g., Titanium); Committed self-care practice to maintain resilience.

About the Department and School

The Office of Counseling Services is a thriving center providing culturally- and trauma-informed services to undergraduate and graduate students while supporting the greater Marist community. Services include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, psychiatric services and campus-wide psychoeducational programs/outreach. Our multidisciplinary staff consists of mental health counselors, clinical social workers, psychologists, a psychiatrist and consulting nutritionist. We firmly align with social justice and anti-racism work as integral to mental health and healing. We strive for holistic wellness through our working relationships with other campus constituents, such as Health Services, Housing, Accommodations, and Academic Affairs.
