Psychological Services Manager 2 (Assistant Director)

The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park, PA has an Assistant Director, Community Education and Outreach position available beginning January 3rd, 2021.

The Assistant Director oversees the development and implementation of community education and outreach activities for University Park and the entire Penn State community of Commonwealth Campuses (e.g., http://redfolder.psu.edu and http://you.psu.edu), provides and coordinates requests for programs and information about mental health topics, manages media and other interview requests, oversees the Outreach Committee, coordinates the Red Folder steering committee, and coordinates the CAPS' advisory board. As a senior-staff clinician this position serves in a leadership and consultation role handling difficult and politically sensitive situations in the absence of the director and administrative staff and serves on university, division and unit committees. The Assistant Director, Community Education and Outreach also provides phone screenings, initial consultations, crisis intervention, individual and couples therapy and group therapy for students with a wide range of mental health, behavioral, emotional and developmental concerns including serious risk to life and safety. The Commonwealth of PA is being established as a trauma-informed, healing centered State. Within this context, clinicians on our staff perform all duties while adhering to and promoting trauma-informed care and healing-centered approaches and principles. As a licensed mental health professional, the Assistant Director will also be involved in clinical supervision of trainees and unlicensed staff.

This job will be filled as a level 1 or 2 Psychological Services Manager. Typically requires a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology plus three years of related experience, or an equivalently trained and credentialed mental health professional combination of education and experience. Must be licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in Pennsylvania if coming from a different jurisdiction. Successful psychologist candidate will have completed a one-year full-time doctoral internship in professional psychology or health service psychology. APA accredited training/internship, and counseling center experience preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
