Job Summary

Provide mental health care to matriculated undergraduate and graduate students including psychiatric assessments, ongoing appointments and the prescription and monitoring of medications as appropriate. Provide clinical consultation to the Counseling and Medical service staff as needed.

Essential Functions

Perform initial psychiatric evaluations, ongoing clinical appointments, and crisis intervention. (60%)

·     Provide medication evaluations and management according to professional standards of care.

·     Maintain a strong understanding of developmental and mental health challenges affecting late adolescents and young adults.

·     Order lab tests as needed.
·     Provide short-term or time sensitive treatment compatible with the academic calendar.
·    Refer students to other service providers, on and off campus as needed.
·    Provide crisis intervention during office hours and serve as on-call after-hours clinician as part of staff rotation
·    Provide individual and group therapy as needed.

 ·     Provide individual and group therapy as needed.

·      Facilitate and provide clinical support for psychiatric hospitalizations as needed. 

Provide consultation and work collaboratively and cooperatively with other clinical staff members and community providers. (20%)

·       Attend staff meetings and treatment plan meetings as needed

·       Provide needed documentation and consultation for student accommodations in partnership with the class deans’ office and office of disability services

·       Consult with family members of students as needed.

·       Refer students to other service providers, on and off campus as needed.

·       Provide and attend in-service trainings

·       Participate in outreach programming.

Maintain timely clinical records. (15%)

·       Review students' records and files to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered.

·       Prepare psychiatric reports as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Psychiatrist, Associate Director of Counseling Services, or Director of the Schacht Center for Health and Wellness. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

MD or DO degree, Completion of an accredited residency program in Adult Psychiatry, Board certified or Board eligible in Adult Psychiatry, licensure in Massachusetts.  Experience working with diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with college populations, versed in telehealth practices. Demonstrated knowledge of (trans)gender affirming psychiatric practices, historical/inter-ngenerational trauma, and racial trauma-responsive practices.  A strong understanding of developmental and mental health challenges affecting late adolescence and young adult populations.

Proven experience working with diverse constituencies. A commitment to the core values of the college, student affairs division, and Schacht Center.  Ability to foster equitable and inclusive psychiatric care as evidenced by demonstrated practice cultural humility and sophistication in delivering mental health services to diverse student groups. Empathy and positivity in work engagement with students and colleagues. Ability to collaborate effectively with a team and a willingness to contribute to the overall wellness of the college community.  Board certified or Board eligible in Adult Psychiatry
