Counselor/Clinical Psychologist -Tenure Track   


Reports To:  Vice President, Academic Affairs

Position Goal Statement:

The purpose of this position is to support student retention and persistence through the delivery of clinical services and outreach programs designed to enhance the mental health and well-being of students at Lewis and Clark Community College.  This is an 11-month tenure-track non-teaching faculty position. 



Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:


·         Provide a range of clinical services to students including, individual/couples/group counseling, assessment, and crisis intervention. Services may be provided both in person and via telehealth.

·         Develop workshops, seminars, and programs intended to enhance the mental health and well-being of students on a wide range of topics (e.g., stress management, test anxiety, suicide prevention, relationship violence, body image, substance abuse, and social justice and inclusion).

·         Consult with faculty members regarding issues pertaining to student wellness and best practices in student mental health and academic achievement.

·         Participate on College committees and complete tasks associated with these groups.

·         Assist with the development of campus policies and procedures designed to support the mental health of students, including those related to crisis management, after-hours care, and off-campus referral procedures.  

·         Collaborate with area mental health and medical providers in the coordination of student mental health and well-being.

·          Document, organize, and manage client records in accordance with professional standards and state and federal laws.

·         Remain apprised of current legal and ethical issues in counseling and higher education.


Lewis and Clark Community College is a 2-year higher education institution with campuses, training centers and Community Education Centers located throughout the college district. Minimum Qualifications

·         Masters in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Social Work required; Ph.D. or Psy. D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology including completion of an APA approved pre-doctoral internship preferred

·         LCPC or LCSW State of Illinois Licensure required

 ·         3 years of professional counseling experience required, preferably working in a college environment

 ·         Multicultural competency and the ability to work in an affirming manner with individuals from diverse backgrounds (e.g. ethnic, LGBTQ+, gender, and race)

 ·         Preference for applicants with training specific to trauma and abuse, as well as applicants with experience supervising counseling practicum students and interns

 ·         Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students primarily through the use of short-term model counseling, as well as some long-term model counseling

 ·         Demonstrated ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advanced planning

$47,313.00 minimum salary, commensurate with experience and placement on faculty scale.
