The Campus Counselor is responsible for a comprehensive program of counseling and psychological services for all students in support of the general well-being of students and the campus community.  This position is an integral part of the Department of Student Life and primary duties include providing individual and group counseling, assisting with crisis response, conducting mental health outreach programs and screenings, conducting psychological and learning disability testing, and providing training/consultation on University student mental health issues.


Education/Certification: Bachlor's degree in counseling or related field; valid Ohio counselor license or 5 years of licensure in another state(must become licensed in Ohio within a reasonable time period from the time of appointment.  Experience: prior clinical experience in individual and group couseling experience working with accessibility accommodations. Skill/Abilities; willing to adjust to a flexible work schedule, which will include some evenings and some late night calls as crisis situations may dictate.  Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion with sensitive personal information.  Maintain stable performance and emotional control in stressful conditions and be able to change direction or implement strategies necessary in response to new information or changes in a situation.  Enjoyment of working with University students and ability to interact effectively and maintain collaborative working relationships with various constituencies including students, faculty, staff, and members of the community are prerequisites for the position.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to represent the University in a variety of settings both on and off the campus. Education/Certification: Master's degree; PhD.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in the above related responsibilities 

Skill/Abilities: Strong communication skills and organizational ability.  Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and familiarity with various internet applications are a plus.
