Mandarin Speaking Clinician

Job Summary:
The Mandarin-speaking clinician, reporting directly to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), is responsible for providing brief, time-limited psychotherapy to a culturally diverse student population, crisis intervention, consultation and scheduled after hours on call emergency consultation to faculty and staff. As educators, they are involved in the training and supervision of practicum trainees, psychology interns and postdoctoral fellows and in psychoeducational outreach to the campus community.

As part of the larger staff in Student Life, this position collaborates and cooperates across divisions and departments to create a supportive University community which encourages student learning and development in the Jesuit Catholic tradition and commits to:

- Promoting a common good that includes the needs of all students
- Engaging differences in a manner that allows students to learn from the diversity of perspectives, experiences and traditions that exist within the University community
- Providing experiences that challenge students to develop spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially, culturally, and morally in order to prepare them to contribute to the University community
- Drawing out the leadership qualities inherent in every individual, and to providing opportunities for students to apply knowledge and skills
- Creating an environment that supports a socially responsible way of being together in a community
- Recognizing and celebrating the achievements and contributions of all students

Full Job Description:




The Mandarin-speaking clinician should have an interest in working within the context of a diverse, Jesuit Catholic university located in an urban, multicultural area;

Fluency in Mandarin in both written and verbal communication;

Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D);

Licensed or license eligible in the State of California (CA licensure within 6 months of hire)

Knowledge and experience in working with diverse populations


Completion of American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited graduate program and APA accredited and/or APPIC member internship

Experience within a university counseling center and/or college mental health

Brief therapy experience
