POSITION DESCRIPTION

The primary role of this position is to provide individual, couples and group psychotherapy, consultation, crisis evaluation and services, supervision of interns, and outreach related to Counseling & Psychological Services.

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be licensed in the State of Florida as a psychologist within 12 months of hire. This is a staff position in a mental health facility which requires the ability to make critical decisions that can directly affect the life or health of students of the university. Position requires a highly skilled therapist who has the clinical training, experience, and expertise required to treat a diverse clinical population that includes patients with serious psychological illnesses.

Essential Functions / Job Duties:

- 60% - Provides psychotherapy, counseling and psychological evaluation to individuals and couples. Also provides group psychotherapy and/or support groups, consultation with faculty and staff of the University, consultation with parents and others as related to students at UWF. Provides crisis evaluation and services including being part of the on-call rotation. - (Essential)

- 5% - Performs other related duties as assigned. Occasionally participates in university events. - (Essential)

- 5% - Participates in the training and supervision of mental health therapists. - (Essential)

- 25% - Fulfills administrative responsibilities such as participation in staff meetings, planning meetings, consultation with peers, documentation of services provided, staff recruitment, program development or professional development activities of Counseling and Psychological Services, the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs or UWF as requested by the Associate Director or Executive Director. - (Essential)

- 5% - Provides workshops, assists with the implementation of psycho-educational programming, and develops and implements outreach through other projects as needed. - (Essential)


Physical Demands:

- Physical Requirements: No unusual physical requirement. Requires no heavy lifting and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.

- Impact of Deadlines: Externally imposed deadlines set and revised beyond one’s control. Interruptions influence priorities. Difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated record of successful performance in and commitment to the practice of psychotherapy with both individuals and groups; Ability and interest in providing clinical supervision and training; Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate in a warm, caring, respectful and non-judgmental manner; Skilled collaborator to work as part of a team with students, colleagues, and other professionals/administrators. Experience working in a University Counseling Center; Experience initiating and developing outreach programs for both the general student body and targeted under-served groups; Demonstrated commitment and competency in working with ethnic minority students; Demonstrated commitment and competency in working with men's issues.

 
COMPENSATION

$60,000 - $65,000/ year
