Counseling & Testing Services consists of two inter-related parts: The Counseling Center and Testing Services. We exist to serve the students and community of UNT in support of the mission of the University. Through our Counseling Center services, we strive to support the academic success and general well-being of UNT students through professional counseling, career counseling, consultation, mental-health screenings, educational programs and self-help resources as well as referral services. We offer to consult with Students, Parents, Faculty and Staff who may be concerned about a UNT student (while still respecting the confidentiality of our clients). With client permission, we often work closely with Physicians and psychiatrists, the Career Center, Office of Disability Accommodations, and many other helpful resources in order to provide the best overall care. Our Testing Services provides a wide range of services including traditional admissions testing, computer-based testing, career testing, and many other tests.

Provides individual, group, and crisis counseling as assigned. Clinical supervision as assigned. If licensed for independent practice, then clinical and administrative supervision is received as indicated. Provides supervision as assigned.

Intake/ICON as evidenced by 1 audit per semester
a. Conducts a minimum of 1 ICON per week
b. Client’s concerns and goals for seeking services are clearly stated
c. Assessment of Harm to Self or Others” Data Form completed if risk present
d. Plan (next appointment date/time) clearly indicated on Initial Data Form
e. Utilizes CCAPS data in decision making
f. ICON data form completed and signed by the end of next business day
g. Success Plan completed
h. Appropriate levels of care utilized; make appropriate referrals as indicated

Individual Counseling as evidenced by 1 audit per semester
a. Conduct a minimum of 22 per week
b. Clinical interventions documented
c. Documentation of risk assessment, if indicated
d. Success plans updated as clinically indicated
e. CCAPS assessed every session
f. evidenced based interventions utilized
g. Appropriate level of care

Group Counseling/Workshops
a. Markets group or workshop
b. conducts groups as assigned
c. evaluates effectiveness/satisfaction

Crisis Counseling
a. Available for crisis counseling in office as needed
b. Available for additional crisis times as needed
c. Documentation of crisis data form completed by end of the day
d. Completion of safety plan as needed
e. Utilizes supervision and consultation as appropriate
f. Keeps administrator and front desk informed of hospitalizations
g. Releases signed for external referrals and placed in file
h. Coordinate additional follow up and transport as needed
i. Obtains coverage during planned absences

Teamwork
a. Available for after hour and weekend special assignments as needed
b. Volunteers for special projects
c. Volunteers to support/cover colleagues (ie crisis etc)
d. collaborates and fosters positive and external relationships

Professional Development
a. maintains CEU requirements and personal CE file
b. Maintains license or working towards completion within 2 years
c. Active in professional organizations (membership, presentations, publications)

Multicultural Humility
a. Participates in department and university-wide multicultural training
b. Clinical documentation reflects multicultural sensitivity and awareness
c. Aware of multicultural dynamics in the workplace
d. attends a minimum of 2 external and two internal trainings

Supervision
a. Provides supervision and training as assigned
b. Available for unofficial training and consultation
c. Participates in training activities as assigned
d. Documents supervision activities
e. Receptive to supervision and participates actively in personal supervision

Professionalism and Ethical/Legal Standards
a. Promptness at all meetings
b. Promptness for scheduled work hours
c. Keeps supervisor informed of absences, lateness or schedule conflicts
d. Maintains Titanium Schedule to reflect work schedule accurately
e. Participates in department committees as assigned
f. Positive work relationships
g. Responds to emails by the end of the next business day
h. Submits time sheets weekly
I. Reliable attendance
j. Aware of and maintains ethical standards of profession
k. Seeks consultation when faced with ethical dilemmas

Liaison duties as assigned
a. Establishes regular communication with department, meeting at least one time monthly with liaison contact to determine needs and support
b. Conducts workshops or outreach programming throughout the semester
c. Dedicates one hour each week to the liaison role

Case Management
a. Makes appropriate referrals as indicated
b. Aware of off campus and on campus resources

Outreach
a. Outreach as assigned
b. Marketing outreach
c. Evaluates outreach programming as indicated

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in Psychology, Counseling, Clinical or Educational Psychology or “All but Dissertation” (ABD).

• Considerable knowledge of professional mental health practices, policies, and procedures. Strong oral and written communications skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

  • Short term treatment orientation.
  • Experience working in a College Counseling Setting.
  • Experience using Titanium software
