Job Description Summary
The Assistant Director/Training Director (AD/TD) is responsible for overseeing both the day to day operations of and strategic planning for all elements of the University Counseling Center (UCC) training program. The training program includes an APA-accredited psychology internship and master’s level counseling internship/doctoral practicum. The AD/TD is a member of the UCC Leadership Team and assists with leadership of the UCC and its offices both in collaboration with, and in the absence of the Director. The AD/TD also provides administrative and clinical supervision and consultation to UCC staff. The AD/TD provides culturally sensitive short-term counseling/therapy and crisis services to students, and consultation and outreach to all members of the Wake Forest University community. The University Counseling Center (UCC) is focused on providing equitable and inclusive services to the campus community.
Provides leadership for, and administrative oversight of the entire UCC training program, including organizing and leading relevant committees and work groups.
Coordinates all functions of the training program, including the annual selection process, orientation, individual clinical supervision, and weekly seminars/supervision meetings for master’s and doctoral interns.
Provides individual and group counseling/therapy, crisis intervention (including participating in on-call rotation), and consultation for WFU students.
Makes decisions regarding referral of clients to outside agencies.
Provides consultation and professional advice to all members of the University community.
Provides clinical and administrative supervision to clinical staff as needed.
Provides seminars, workshops, and trainings for the WFU community.
Keeps timely, accurate, and ethical records consistent with UCC policy.
Partners with UCC Leadership Team to assess the utilization, efficacy, and impact of the training program through quantitative and qualitative methods.
Coordinates and oversees clinical supervision of psychology interns within the scope of the training program, including assigning supervisors.
Coordinates the evaluation of all interns and monitors intern progress during the training year.
Coordinates continuing education for staff related to clinical supervision.
Responsible for maintaining APA accreditation and APPIC membership of the psychology internship program.
Works collaboratively both within the Health & Wellbeing team and across other departments as members of the Division of Campus Life to ensure delivery of integrated professional services consistent with the mission and strategic directions of Campus Life.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology from APA-accredited program and internship.
Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in the state of North Carolina.
Adherence to ethical standards of APA and relevant state law.
Minimum of 5 years of professional (post-graduate) experience as a psychologist providing counseling/psychotherapy.
Knowledge of clinical training program functioning.
Knowledge of a broad range of psychotherapy and counseling methods.
Experience providing clinical supervision to trainees and mental health professionals.
Knowledge of and ability to use crisis intervention skills.
Ability to use independent judgment and manage confidential information.
Ability to practice good consultation skills both within and outside of the University.
Ability to effectively facilitate workshops, trainings, and seminars.
Excellent communication skills, both (oral and written); strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to organize and manage projects.
Knowledge of relevant technology.
Ability to work in a leadership position with a high degree of autonomy, reliability, and ethical decision-making.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a college/university counseling center.
Previous experience in University Counseling Center leadership positions
Experience with managing doctoral training program and related accreditation responsibilities.
