The North Dakota State College of Science is a two-year, comprehensive, residential college offering a robust student life experience. NDSCS offers degrees, certificates and diplomas in traditional career and technical studies as well as the liberal arts. Enrollment in Fall 2020 was 2,829.

 

NDSCS is looking to fill a full-time, 10-month personal counselor position (see attached position description). This position provides individual and group counseling to students, offers consultation to faculty and staff members, conducts education and outreach to the College community and is responsible for administrative functions related to Counseling Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

·       M.A., M.Ed. or M.S. Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field

·       Minimum of two years’ experience (practicum or internship experience included).

·       Licensure in the State of North Dakota as a:

o    Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

o    Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)

o    Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

·       Excellent communication skills

·       Knowledge and understanding of clinical mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards

·       Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures

·       Effective interviewing and developmental evaluation skills

·       Familiarity with mental health screening tools

·       Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications

·       Knowledge of case management

·       Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques

·       Knowledge of community mental health resources

·       Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses

·       Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights

·       Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

·       ND Licensure as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC)

·       Five or more years of experience providing counseling services

·       Experience providing counseling services in a college/university setting

 
COMPENSATION

Salary range is $48,000 - $60,000.
