The Staff Psychologist will maintain commitment and expertise in supporting young adults’ mental health with clinical focus including adjustment, mood disorders, anxiety, identity, trauma, family concerns, and other issues typical of a university student population. The Psychologist will also demonstrate sensitivity and knowledge about diversity, equity, and inclusion. The University Counseling Center supports the emotional health of our highly talented and motivated student body, and provides consultation and support for the families, faculty, and staff in our University community. The individual in this position will provide short-term individual and group therapy, evaluation, crisis intervention and outreach to college students, and will provide expert clinical consultation to students, families, outside providers, and faculty and staff, all in support of our students’ well-being.

  • Provide short-term individual and group counseling and clinical evaluation with a specialization in working with young adults and college students, including those from underrepresented identities.  
  • Assist in helping students in crisis, both daytime and after-hours as required.  Participate in a rotating after-hours coverage schedule.
  • Provide mental health education and outreach programs, on campus to various constituencies on a variety of mental health topics. 
  • Provide crisis-response outreach and intervention in support of our University Community when the need arises.
  • Consult with families, deans, colleagues, faculty, staff. Participate in Counseling Center staff meetings and clinical supervision. Consult with off-campus providers, as appropriate.  Participate in receiving supervision, attending case conferences and psychiatric case reviews.
  • Comply with appropriate notetaking. Work with students and their families to effectively refer students off campus when they need treatment beyond the scope of what the Counseling Center provides. 
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
