Counseling Services is committed to the development of the whole person: intellectually, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and physically. The Staff Clinician/Coordinator of Equity and Inclusion Initiatives will collaborate with key campus partners and student organizations to promote awareness of and access to services to students who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color and other underrepresented backgrounds and will also provide a high level of direct clinical services to students/clients.

Occasional evening/weekend hours may be required to accommodate campus activities, crises, and outreach requests.

This is an 11-month position with a period of not working for 4 weeks, typically from mid-June through mid-July, however, dates may fluctuate from year to year depending on the academic calendar.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical, educational, outreach, and consultation services specifically designed to enhance the mental wellbeing, academic success, retention, and personal development of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and underrepresented student populations.
  • Serve as an active member in fostering a campus culture in which differences are embraced and work to advance the College’s mission of diversity and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with other college departments such as the Office of Intercultural Affairs, Residence Life, Student Success Collaborative, and Center for Teaching and Learning to develop, cultivate and create initiatives and programs that enhance a sense of belonging, personal development, support, and wellbeing for students from underrepresented populations at Stonehill College.
  • Offer outreach workshops and presentations, trainings, and consultations on mental health topics to students, faculty, staff, and extended Stonehill community with an emphasis on the mental health needs of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and underrepresented students.
  • Provide evidence-based, culturally responsive clinical services for Stonehill College’s student population which include intake assessment, individual counseling, case management, crisis intervention, and BASICS.
  • Conduct mandated assessments as needed for students referred by Student Affairs, Community Standards, and/or Residence Life.
  • Contribute to Counseling Services’ publicity and promotional activities such as awareness campaigns, social media postings, outreach events, campus advertising, etc., with an emphasis on promoting resources, awareness, and services for BIPOC and underrepresented students.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical records/documentation in the electronic medical records system (EMR) utilized by Counseling Services.
  • Participate in clinical after-hours on-call rotation as a backup consultant to a 24/7 Line service provider.
  • Adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and professional codes of ethics and maintain licensure/CEU requirements as required by discipline.
  • Serve on college committees as needed.
  • Adhere to guidelines in Counseling Services’ Staff Manual and general policies/procedures for employees of Stonehill College.
  • Seek collegial input as needed for clinical case consultations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the College’s Catholic mission and identity and how Catholic traditions and values enhance the student experience.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students/clients, parents/guardians, faculty, and staff.
  • May provide clinical supervision to Counseling Services’ graduate interns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

A Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work is required. Massachusetts independent licensure as a mental health provider, or license eligible, required. Licensed Psychologist or LICSW preferred, but LMHC considered with relatable experience. Verification of license or of license-eligibility is required. At least three years of counseling experience with a college-aged population is required. Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations and the capacity to develop and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse academic community required. Established recognition of the effects that discrimination, prejudice, and systemic oppression have on marginalized individuals, and how these negative biases may lead to psychological trauma and stress. Demonstrated commitment to embracing and advancing diversity and inclusion in all aspects of campus life.
