 Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati Counseling and Psychological Services (UC-CAPS) is looking for qualified individuals to apply for Staff Psychologist and join our energetic, multidisciplinary, culturally informed collaborative team of mental health professionals to provide comprehensive clinical and psycho-educational services reflecting the needs of a diverse student body. UC-CAPS is looking to fill multiple staff psychologist positions.

 

Under general supervision from a designated at CAPS, provide comprehensive clinical, consultative, emergency and psycho-educational services reflecting the needs of a diverse student body, following all relevant national professional association ethical standards and state and federal laws regarding service delivery, record keeping, documentation, and other professional activities. Develop and provide outreach to the campus community and build a supportive community for the academic success and well-being of students.

 

We invite an early career or mid-career level staff psychologist to join our dynamic and multi-culturally competent staff members at the Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) within the Division of Student Affairs and Services.  We seek a generalist with well-developed clinical skills, and significant experience and interest outreach and community engagement to join CAPS.

 

We seek candidates who demonstrate a clear interest and commitment to all dimensions of diversity, and whose clinical service, supervision, and outreach are infused with cultural awareness and responsiveness.  We seek candidates who are attuned to the complexities of identity that our students experience, including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, nationality, class, disability, religion, sexuality, and gender.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct individual and group counseling.
  • Write reports and proposals concerning program operation.
  • Assess needs and create, plan and implement outreach activities including social media outlets. Consult with faculty and staff within the university regarding counseling needs and provide training to faculty and staff on creating supportive learning environments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

Doctoral Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.).

Required Trainings/Certifications

Licensed Psychologist or licensed eligible in the State of Ohio (must obtain license in the State of Ohio within six (6) months of date of hire).

Required Experience

Three (3) years of clinical counseling experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • A doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited program.
  • Pre-doctoral internship from an APA accredited internship training site.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in university counseling center, which may include a pre-doctoral internship from an APA-accredited site.
  • Licensed-eligible in the State of Ohio.  Must obtain psychologist licensure in Ohio within one year from the date of hire and must maintain license.
  • Experience working with sexual assault/trauma concerns.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Experience providing brief individual therapy to international, historically underrepresented, and/or underserved college population.
  • Experience providing couples and group counseling.
  • Experience in a college counseling center.
  • Good interpersonal skills, team oriented, and desire to collaborate in a multidisciplinary setting. The ability to manage the professional demands of a challenging caseload while maintaining good self-care and positive and healthy perspectives.
  • Experience in conducting psychological assessment.
  • Experience working with Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Communities.
  • Experience in treatment and prevention of alcohol and drug misuse disorders.
  • Experience in the treatment of eating disorders.
 
COMPENSATION

Salary 64,000 - 70,000
