We are enthusiastic about assisting our students with all kinds of questions and concerns, like homesickness, struggles with relationships, sexual identity and gender questions, cultural issues, eating and body image, substance use, anxiety, and depression. Our licensed and professionally-trained staff offer counseling services to those currently enrolled at FSU in a variety of ways: through one-on-one sessions, couples sessions, group sessions, triage sessions, and crisis intervention. Counseling & Psychological Services is home to full-time psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, treatment coordinators, and a mental health education coordinator, and we are fully committed to the health and wellness of our students. Our department is currently seeking a Mental Health Specialist to join our team for the health and wellness of our students. To positions are available, one in our Counseling Center and the other at the College of Law The Mental Health Specialists will provide direct individual, couples, and group counseling to Counseling & Psychological Services clients, clinical supervision of pre-masters students, outreach and consultation services to the university community, and may also participate in Counseling & Psychological Services and university committees and develop special clinical programs. Responsibilities at the Counseling Center - Provide direct psychological services to university students, including individual, couples, and group counseling; conduct clinical assessments; and formulate diagnoses and treatment plans. Provides initial contact assessments, crisis intervention, and biopsychosocial evaluations for students. Provide clinical consultations to family members and campus community constituents
- Serve the greater FSU community through providing outreach presentations, program consultation, liaisons, prevention programming, and serving on CAPS and university committees. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the leadership team.
- Complete required documentation associated with clinical services such as biopsychosocial evaluations, emergency evaluations, progress notes, and termination summaries according to established policies and procedures
- Provide clinical supervision and/or training of pre-master's interns. This may include providing presentations and/or leading of training seminars
Responsibilities at the College of Law - Provide direct individual, couples, and group counseling services to College of Law students and clients of Counseling and Psychological Services in a confidential environment with strict adherence to the ethical principles, standards, and legal statutes that regulate the clinical profession.
- Complete clinical documentation in compliance with Counseling and Psychological Services policies and procedures and in consultation with the Counseling and Psychological Services Director.
- Work with Counseling and Psychological Services and College of Law administration to advise, create, and execute curriculum and psychoeducational opportunities for better mental health practices of students.
- Participate in Counseling and Psychological Services and College of Law committees and staff meetings.
