Oberlin College invites applications for a staff psychologist/therapist position in The Counseling and Psychological Services of the Division of Student Life. This is a full-time, 10-month Administrative and Professional position in a department of five psychologists/therapists, two part-time therapists, three practicum students, and two part-time psychiatrists serving a highly diverse residential campus of 3000 high-achieving college and conservatory students.

We seek a well-trained clinician who has demonstrated training and employment experience as a specialist in working with students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, or asexual/aromantic/agender (LGBTQIA). We are also seeking someone who speaks both Spanish and English (bilingual).

The qualified candidate will have experience providing psychological assessment and diagnosis, time-limited individual and group therapy, on-call crisis intervention, and supervision in a college setting.

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastically committed to presenting psychological perspectives in outreach programs, training, and settings throughout the college community. The appropriate candidate will provide consultation and facilitate support for programs focused on the needs of specific populations, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, ethnic minorities, students with disabilities, and campus groups and organizations such as the Sexual Information Center (SIC), HIV peer counselors, resident advisors (RAs), and other student groups.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Supervised training and experience in a college or university counseling center. A master’s degree in counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy. Applicants must be an independent licensed mental health provider or obtain licensure in the state of Ohio in professional discipline within 24 months of hire. Holding a license in another state and eligibility for licensure in Ohio
will also meet this requirement.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of clients and information obtained during care/treatment. Ability to maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with professional standards, HIPAA (Health Information Portability & Accountability Act) and FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) and state regulations.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, counseling or social work. Preferred qualities of the candidate include an appreciation for and experience working with students who identify as LGBTQIA; bilingual (Spanish and English speaking), an APA accredited internship; a collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, respect, and trust towards colleagues; the energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging caseload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships; a self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high professional ideals; excellent oral and written communication skills; a sense of humor is helpful and appreciated.
