POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Ross
University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) IACS-accredited Counseling
Center is pleased to welcome applications to join our team as a full-time
permanent Staff Therapist/ Psychologist, on the island of St. Kitts.
The
Staff Therapist/Psychologist will:
- Provide
individual, group, and crisis counseling services to RUSVM students.
- Develop and
deliver a variety of outreach programming activities on campus.
- Provide
clinical oversight of the Counseling Center in the absence of the Director
of the Counseling Center.
- Provide
consultation to faculty and staff, as directed.
- Engage in
active case management, as needed.
- Develop
psychoeducational materials.
- Effectively
manage clients and balance multiple priorities.
- Work with the
team to develop and improve the Counseling Center's technology and
communication, as directed.
- Protect and
maintain the client's right to privacy and confidentiality, including
ability to comply with all legal regulations and professional standards in
this area.
- Adhere to the
ethical and legal standards of professional practice and behavior relevant
to the field of training and licensure.
- Take initiative
to identify campus needs and create interventions to address such needs.
- Develop and
maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues and campus community.
The
position may require some early morning and/or evening hours.

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) offers a unique program of training on the island of St. Kitts and Nevis, located in the Caribbean. A cutting-edge curriculum with innovative use of technologies and simulations, provides the best possible training for tomorrow’s veterinarians. RUSVM offers an accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, postgraduate certification, integrated DVM/Master of Science (MSc) dual degree programs, and Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees. Our unique program of broad-based curriculum integrates research opportunities and classroom study in St. Kitts with hands-on clinical training at affiliated AVMA-accredited veterinary schools. Students benefit from seven semesters of integrated preclinical and clinical studies at our St Kitts campus, and one year of clinical training at our affiliate veterinary teaching hospitals in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.
Our ongoing research focuses on key issues strategically relevant to One Health in tropical and developing countries and includes zoonotic diseases, food safety and security, environmental health, and conservation medicine. We prioritize recruitment of talented faculty and are now seeking a key new member of our team to join us as we develop new programs to best prepare our graduates to face the global opportunities and challenges of veterinary medicine in the 21st century.
