Summary of Position

The Wellness Center at Keene State College is seeking applications for a Training Director/Mental Health Counselor to provide: development, maintenance, supervision, and promotion of the Wellness Center practicum training program/experiences for graduate-level trainees. This is a full-time, benefited position that requires compliance with all ethical and legal standards related to mental health and graduate preparation programs.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Clinical Operations, the Training Director/Mental Health Counselor also provides mental health services to enrolled students. Primary responsibilities are providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, performing initial evaluations, and providing crisis interventions. Additional responsibilities include providing consultation services to staff, faculty, and administrators; providing clinical supervison to trainees, participating in outreach, and other duties as assigned.

The Wellness Center is a very dynamic, creative, fun, and rewarding work environment. While the centerpiece of our work is providing direct care to students, there is plenty of opportunity to engage with colleagues within the Wellness Center and the broader campus community. We work to promote a wellness orientation throughout the institution and to provide coordinated services to our students. Counseling staff provide training and supervision to graduate practicum students and actively collaborate with our medical providers including a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Other minimum qualifications

• Master’s degree and minimum 3 years of experience in mental health counseling, clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or related field
• New Hampshire state professional licensure in mental health or related field or licensed in another state and license eligible in NH
• Knowledge of current and emerging mental health and wellness issues in higher education
• Experience providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy; outreach programming; mental health consultation; crisis intervention
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing clinical supervision
• Experience teaching, creating, facilitating, and evaluating training programs
• Experience working with mental health related accreditation and licensing boards
• Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
• Experience in evidence-based treatment models and brief/intermittent service delivery
• Experience in an integrated health care setting
• Experience supporting students with marginalized identities

Duty/Responsibility

Research, develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate graduate-level practicum programs in The Wellness Center in keeping with training best-practices, including:

• Continuously develop and implement all graduate-level internship training programs.
• Widely promote practicum program and recruit graduate-level interns from established programs.
• Initiate and/or maintain relationships with leadership of established graduate programs.
• Supervise graduate-level practicum training programs, and provide resources and support for direct supervisors of all practicum students
• Provide direct supervision and training to and support professional development of graduate trainees.
• Provide administrative oversight of the operation and adherence to accreditation, quality assurance, and/or best-practice guidelines for the graduate-level training program.
• Assist the Assistant Director of Counseling with the supervision of licensed staff in delivery of training experiences to trainees.
• Collect evaluative data and continuously review and update training content and methods as needed.

Duty/Responsibility

Provide clinical services, including:

• Initial evaluations, individual, group, and occasional couples counseling, and crisis intervention.
• Consultation to faculty, staff, and administrators regarding general and specific mental health needs of the students
• Referrals to off-campus agencies and providers.
• Contribution to the development and delivery of departmental wellness promotion programming.
