Job Title:Sexual Violence Resource Specialist and Staff Therapist
Job Summary:Reporting to the Senior Director of CAPS, the Sexual Violence Resource Specialist (“Specialist”) provides direct support to students who have experienced sexual and gender-based violence (sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking) with advocacy and assistance getting them connecting to on and off campus resources. The Specialist will provide services designed to minimize the impact of sexual and gender-based violence on the academic and personal pursuits of students through effective case management and the coordination of care between campus and community resources.
The position works closely with the Office of the Dean of Students, Title IX Office, and CAPS to assist with various aspects of administration regarding triage and crisis situations in regards to sexual and gender-based violence. The Specialist also provides crisis intervention, consultation and programming to the campus community.
This position carries a moderate caseload in counseling and psychological services. As a member of the larger staff in Student Life, the Sexual Violence Resource Specialist collaborates and cooperates to create leadership and intercultural competence opportunities to support student learning and development in the Jesuit Catholic tradition. The mission of Student Life is to fully support holistic student development within a social justice framework centered in preparing students to be caring, socially responsible citizens in our global and local community.
Full Job Description:Job Responsibilities- Provides direct services, including confidential counseling, as an advocate and campus resource to students to address matters of sexual and gender-based violence and misconduct in compliance with federal and state laws including Clery Act, Title IX, VAWA and all relevant resolutions and arrangements.
- Advises students regarding options, victim rights, and on- and off-campus resources. Provides crisis response, referrals, and support to complainants involved in formal campus grievance processes.
- May assist and/or accompany victims to local law enforcement for reporting, to obtain protective orders, and/or medical services (e.g., receiving a sexual assault examination kit).
- Develop and maintain a network of community resources available to support survivors. This may include emergency shelters, transitional housing, legal resources, and mental health support. Research additional resources as specific needs arise, or as students may be located in areas outside of San Francisco.
- Conduct triage assessments to assess risk, determine suitable treatment, including appropriateness for a short-term therapeutic modality, and provide referrals on/off campus for students whose mental health needs are outside CAPS scope of services.
- Provide comprehensive, culturally appropriate individual, couples and group therapy services to students within a brief therapy model.
- Provide group therapy for survivors of IPV/ Sexual Violence/ Sexual Misconduct
- Provide appropriate crisis intervention services, including assessing suicidal or homicidal risk. Make appropriate referrals and/or facilitate off-campus hospitalization, as needed.
- Participate in the Resources, Education, Prevention & Support (REPS) committee which aims to end sexual violence on campus through connecting students to resources, educating our community, preventing and intervening in disrespectful situations, and providing support to one another.
- Assist with developing and implementing culturally competent prevention education, training, and programming with appropriate offices for students, faculty, staff, and administrators and other targeted audiences to better assist the university campus in understanding and preventing sexual and gender-based violence in accordance with best practices.
- Works collaboratively with offices including the Title IX Office, Cultural Centers, Office of the Dean of Students, Antiracism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADEI), and Center for Academic and Student Achievement (CASA).
- Provide resources and consultation to CAPS staff, students, parents of students, campus partners, and faculty on topics related to sexual misconduct and violence, in an effort to create trauma-informed practices across the University.
- Establishes comprehensive plans of support utilizing appropriate on campus and community services/providers. Re-evaluates and adjusts the plan according to need over time; partners with the student and collaborates with other relevant parties.
- Coordinates the efforts of various providers and facilitates communication among providers to ensure the student receives quality service.
- Advocates for the student as they negotiate the academic, student life, and health care landscape by working with relevant on campus and off campus providers to ensure the student's needs and accommodations are understood.
- Educates and advises students in the development of self-advocacy skills.
- As a part of the CAPS on-call rotation, provide 24-hour crisis consultation to Office of Community Living, Student Life Division, Public Safety, and other administrative units of the University staff (approximately 2-3 weeks/semester).
- Create and present training seminars on trauma-informed approaches to working with survivors of sexual violence, and related topics as needed.
- Create and present in-service and intercultural training seminars, as needed
- Participate in weekly case conference seminars.
- Attend CAPS and Title IX staff meetings and trainings, as appropriate.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
Minimum Requirements- CA License required within 6 months of hire in one of the following professions: Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Counselor;
- Two years of related experience working with clients in a position involving the provision of victim services and/or peer counseling preferred;
- Current working knowledge of sexual assault and trauma services and supports both locally and national resources;
- Experience developing and/or implementing curriculum and programming on topics related to victim advocacy, sexual and gender-based violence, and referral support.
Qualifications- Understanding of the issues surrounding sexual assault and interpersonal violence, and a familiarity with the needs of survivors and their families and friends;
- Knowledge of current college-health related needs, cultures, and trends, specifically related to campus sexual violence;
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, campus policies and procedures related to Title IX and sexual misconduct response to assist victims in comprehending grievance options available;
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with various partnering agencies in the community;
- Ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality, listen well with discretion, empathy, and non-judgmental caring;
- Ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment;
- Ability to analyze complex situations accurately, adopt effective courses of action and advocate for survivors of violence, in coordination with multiple campus departments and off-campus partners;
- Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality;
- Fundamental writing and presentation skills and the demonstrated competence to effectively present information in either format. Comfortable working with and presenting to groups of diverse backgrounds;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Commitment to, and understanding of, a diverse, urban institution;
- A demonstrated interest in, and a commitment to, the mission of a Jesuit institution;
- Knowledge and skill with current technology is preferred; and
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Salary Range :$75,968.00-$90,000.00 annualized, commensurate with experience
