POSITION DESCRIPTION

The athletics clinical case manager will provide in-person outreach programming and individual case management for Rice student athletes on campus, and provide consultation on mental health and administrative issues for athletics staff, faculty, staff, students and student family members. The athletics case manager will have a significant role in supporting the drug testing program and has the responsibility of managing the ADHD screening process, mental health protocol for injured athletes, mental health screenings and psychiatry referrals. Maintaining appropriate and timely documentation of care is required, and this individual will assist in ensuring Athletics Mental Health Services is operating within the NCAA Mental Health Best Practice guidelines.

The clinical case manager is responsible for setting a flexible schedule to address community needs, which includes working days, in the evenings and on some weekends on campus. 

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two years of related experience working as a behavioral health educator, case manager, school counselor, or other related position. 
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules, governance, and Mental Health Best Practices
  • Knowledge of well?being case management or well?being education / community level social services to a culturally diverse young adult population
  • Knowledge of privacy guidelines (HIPAA/FERPA) and ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information
  • Commitment to diversity and demonstrate competency in multicultural awareness.
  • Computer literate-especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Google Drive, and Zoom 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, public health, or other related field.
  • Eligible for Texas license in professional counseling or social work. LPC, LCSW or LMSW 
  • Experience
    • At least one year of experience working with college athletes or experience as a college athlete
    • One or more years of experience providing well-being case management or well-being education/community level social services to a culturally diverse young adult population (includes experience gained in internships and/or other  related pre-master’s experience) 
    • Outreach or prevention specialist
    • Facilitated psychoeducational groups
    • Experience as a high school or college level counselor/case manager
