POSITION DESCRIPTION
CAPS is integrated within SHS, a state-of-the-art ambulatory health care facility. Interdisciplinary care is a central value of
CAPS and we stand committed to providing affirming care to students of all backgrounds and identities. We emphasize a
commitment to LGBTQ Health as demonstrated by our recognized status as an LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader. CAPS
maintain a large, APA-accredited internship and serves as a practicum training site for SIU Carbondale students from a variety
of graduate programs. All staff are a part of our training team and provide supervision to interns and practicum students. Simply
put, we are passionate about training. CAPS provide comprehensive mental health services. We welcome applicants looking to
gain clinical and professional skills with a diverse university student population.
Staff provides individual, group, couples, and crisis counseling. Specialized treatment services are also available via our
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eating Disorder Outpatient Program (EDOP), Alcohol and other Drug (AOD), and
Interdisciplinary Health Care (IHC) services. Staff provide outreach through our community intervention program. Social justice,
diversity, equity, and inclusion remain central to all of CAPS work and are core values of the organization. We seek colleagues
who strive to work collaboratively with peers (within CAPS and across campus), those who have strong interpersonal skills, and
who enjoy building positive working relationships.
