Job Description

Under administrative direction, clinical fellows provide timely and responsive clinical services to undergraduate and graduate students with educational, emotional and social concerns. This will be a twelve-month, 100% FTE, position designed to provide a bridge between graduate level training and independently licensed positions in counseling, social work and psychology. This role is a one-year appointment with possibility of extension based on performance. Primary supervision matches supervision needed for the Clinical Fellow to advance towards independent licensure.


This position primarily works at Tempe, but may be scheduled at our Downtown, Polytechnic, or West campus


Salary Range

$42,000 - $48,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Provides timely and responsive clinical services including consultation, assessment, brief individual and group interventions, support groups, crisis response, and coordination of care.
  • Participates in a multidisciplinary clinical team and collaborate within University departments and organizations in providing individual and group counseling services as well as preventative outreach and programming.
  • Engages in weekly professional development activities to support advancement towards independent
  • licensure and enrichment to ensure comprehensive awareness of and application of current practices and protocols suited to client population.
  • Engages in collective efforts to provide outreach to University community with the aim to broaden student awareness of services and benefits across a wide spectrum of educational, emotional and social needs.
  • Participates in agency program evaluation and research to identify, measure, and report on clinical services, success, and future plans and programs to enhance service delivery and performance.
  • Performs additional professional services based on individual skills and interests consistent with agency needs and individual developmental goals and objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Provides emergency and/or after hours and on call services as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of APA Accredited Doctoral Internship, OR Licensed in Arizona by the board of Behavioral Health as a Licensed Associate Counselor (L.A.C), a Licensed Master Social Worker (L.M.S.W.) 


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with teen or young adult populations
  • Experience with crisis assessment and intervention
  • Experience working with Native American/American Indian/First Nation students
  • Evidence of training in trauma-informed clinical practices
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin, Hindi or other non-English language


Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%);
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%).
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
