General Outreach Specialist - (230000K1)

The Towson University Counseling Center (TUCC) seeks to fill a General Outreach Specialist position. This position will perform general outreach duties as well as provide counseling and psychological services to the Towson University community. The Outreach Specialist will also serve on university committees where appropriate and participate in other aspects of the Counseling Center’s mission as assigned.

We seek an individual who will provide an innovative vision and administrative leadership in general outreach initiatives. Applicants with strong cultural competence expertise will be given extra consideration.

Responsibilities and Duties
Provides general outreach programming as assigned in addition to coordinating outreach efforts in specified areas. Manages peer education groups. Ongoing development of digital mental health content that can be delivered through social media, the TUCC website, digital signs, etc. Benchmark and engage in regular identification and use of best practices and high impact practices associated with educational outreach. Engages in regular assessment of outreach activities.

As time allows beyond outreach responsibilities, provides psychological services to students and consultation to faculty and staff on both a regular and emergency basis, and when necessary, during non-traditional hours. Provides clinical consultation to students and their families, and to the campus in support of the mental health of the campus. Adheres to agency standards regarding case management, documentation, and parameters of service.

The General Outreach Specialist also participates in the Student Affairs Division and supports the University mission in a variety of ways, such as collaborating with other departments on campus, attending university functions, and serving on task forces and committees as assigned.

Work Schedule: Standard business hours of the center are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, however, after hours and weekend coverage may be required for performance of outreach and consultation programs and services. 

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Qualifications and Skills

• Master's degree in health promotion, health education, clinical or counseling psychology, or related field.
• Experience in a college or University Counseling center is preferred.

Salary and Benefits
Targeted Hiring Range is $55,000 - $60,000 and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
