Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) is located in Rockville, MD.

The Staff Counselor, Outreach Coordinator will provide services to students according to assessed campus needs and interests, and will increase the reach and impact of mental health and well-being across campus via consistent marketing and scheduling of events. The Staff Counselor will collaborate with student groups, and other constituents to support and strengthen mental health education and programming efforts to promote student success and personal well-being.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Licensable degree in mental health field. (Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, OR Master’s degree in Social Work, MA/MS in Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy,
  • LCSW-C or LCPC from an accredited institution required.
  • Licensed or license-eligible within three months of hire in the State of Maryland as a licensed psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

 

Experience:
Two years of related experience in the provision of mental health services to adults and late adolescents (post independent licensure).


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in the provision of direct clinical services including intakes, individual, crisis intervention and group psychotherapy
  • Skilled in the provision of face-to-face and tele-mental health services to students
  • Skilled in the development and delivery of culturally inclusive community outreach.
  • Ability to consult and collaborate/partnerships with campus organizations and affinity groups that address the needs of underserved and minority populations
  • Ability to develop and deliver outreach programs and services to students according to assessed campus needs and interests
  • Ability to effectively present information publicly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport and cooperative relationship with customers and co-workers.
  • Skilled in increasing the reach and impact of mental health and well-being awareness across campus through consistent marketing and scheduling of events.
  • Ability to collaborate with campus partners, student groups, and other constituents to support and strengthen mental health education and programming efforts.
  • Ability to use Electronic Medical Records (e.g., Titanium) fluently is necessary
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse and marginalized populations.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Preferences:

  • Generalist clinical experience in counseling, consultation and outreach.
  • Experience providing clinical services (groups/individual counseling) to marginalized and emerging adult populations.
  • Experience with supervision, crisis intervention, outreach/prevention, groups.
  • BIPOC candidates in mental health professions are strongly encouraged to apply.

Additional Certifications:

Licensed or license-eligible within three months of hire in the State of Maryland as a licensed psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
