POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of the Wellness Center, the Counselor is responsible for providing culturally responsive mental health services to students including assessment, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, case management, and consultation. The Counselor will contribute to educational outreach programs for the campus community on a variety of topics related to mental health and wellbeing, often collaborating with other departments. The Counselor will actively participate in orientation activities and other college-wide programs. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing intake assessments and effective treatment planning.
  • Providing individual and group counseling to students presenting with a variety of personal, social, academic, and mental health concerns.
  • Providing case management and appropriate referrals to off-campus providers as needed.
  • Providing crisis assessment, intervention, and consultation as needed during working hours and on-call rotation for evenings and weekends.
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with local hospitals, substance abuse and mental health agencies, and mental health professionals.
  • Maintaining accurate, adequate, and timely documentation of treatment records including assessment, treatment plans, progress notes, correspondence with others, and termination records. 
  • Contributing to the creation and implementation of innovative mental health and wellness educational programs.
  • Maintaining professional licensure and credentials in good standing including the completion of required continuing education credits. 
  • Observing state and national statues and guidelines related to professional role, code of ethics, and confidentiality including FERPA.
  • Attending weekly Counseling Services Staff Meetings, weekly Counseling Services Disposition meetings, biweekly Wellness Center staff meetings, departmental and divisional professional development sessions and other meetings assigned by the supervisor.

  • Participating in orientation activities and other college programs.

For more information about the college’s benefits, please click here to review the 2023 benefits guidebook. This is a full-time, 35 hour/week position with a hiring range of $ 59,800-63,440 for a LGPC/LMSW and $69,160-72,800 for a LCPC/LCSW-C.
