The Assistant Director (AD) reports directly to the Director of the Counseling Center and is responsible for all administrative and supervisory duties in the director’s absence. Also, the AD is responsible for clinical and administrative supervision of master’s and doctoral level professional staff; supervision and training of pre-doctoral interns; supervision of office/clerical staff; providing individual and group psychotherapy; crisis/emergency intervention; consultation with resident directors, administration, campus police, faculty, parents, and staff.
The AD will collect data and develop an annual report; conceptualize, implement, and coordinate monthly and yearly assessments of the services offered at the center. In addition, the Assistant Director will maintain and update the center’s technology hardware and software; develop new initiatives and programs; initiate staff development opportunities and, provide psychological consultations during non-office hours.
Morgan State University has been designated as Maryland's Preeminent Public Urban Research University. MSU was founded in 1867 and has been designated a National Treasure by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The university awards more bachelor's degrees to African American students than any other university or college in Maryland, especially in the STEM fields. The University also has a high national ranking, across fields of study, for its success at producing PhD level African American scholars.
