The Therapist for Counseling and Psychological Services will provide the MSMU community with responsive, ethical and professional clinical services as well as outreach and consultation activities that are conducive to enhancing student development and supporting the educational mission of the University.

Duties: Provide crisis intervention, psychotherapy and referrals for students. Consult with faculty, staff, and students on mental health concerns. Provide outreach programming for the campus that focuses on increasing awareness about a specialty area, such as: gender diversity and identity, and/or Latinx/Latine, and/or Black/African American student concerns.

Region Description:

The Chalon campus is nestled in the hills above West Los Angeles and the historic Doheny campus is located near downtown Los Angeles.

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in social work, marriage and family therapy, or clinical or counseling psychology.

Experience:

  • Clinical experience providing intakes and therapy for at least one year with young adults ages 18-30 and at least one year post-graduate clinical experience. 
  • Skills in short-term therapy, crisis intervention and psycho-educational programming; ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Clinical experience and cultural competence with gender diverse and/or Latinx/Latine and/or Black/African American clients.
  • Knowledge of university student development theory, women's issues, multicultural and diversity issues is required.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Licensed as a LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) or licensed as a LMFT (licensed marriage and family therapist) or licensed as an LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) in California.  If licensed in another state, you must be eligible for licensure in California according to the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • License must be kept current and maintained.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred: university/college counseling center experience.

 
COMPENSATION

Salary Rate: $5,546.67 - $5,990.40 monthly

Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
