Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group therapy within a brief treatment model.
  • Conduct intake assessments and make recommendations for appropriate services.
  • Deliver crisis intervention and manage urgent student needs.
  • Provide presentations and outreach programming on mental health topics for students, staff, and faculty.
  • Provide supervision to trainees as able based on licensure requirements.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of client interactions and services.

Special Requirements:
Applicants must obtain their full psychologist license in Iowa within 18 months of the start date. We can provide supervision toward licensure requirements if needed.

Level Guidelines

Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
Provides guidance to students

This position will be hired at either a Psychologist or Senior psychologist level depending on the candidates’ qualifications. 

In addition to the duties above, the Senior Psychologist must have a Doctorate Degree from an American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited program or certified equivalent in counseling or clinical psychology and 1 year of related experience, which may include a doctoral internship. Candidates must be licensed and obtain an Iowa License within six months of the start date. Pay Grade PS810


This position serves at the pleasure of university administration and is exempt from certain P&S policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate Degree from an American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited program or certified equivalent in counseling or clinical psychology and 1 year of related experience, which may include a doctoral internship.
