Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), integrated within Student Health Services (SHS), at SIU Carbondale, is seeking applications for the Counseling Psychologist-Athletics position. This position provides direct clinical services to primarily student athletes with some services provided to the broader student population. This position is embedded in the Athletics department but may occasionally split time between the Student Health Center and the Athletics Offices. This is a 12-month, full-time appointment.

Examples of Duties

Provide professional and ethical counseling/therapy, assessment, and evaluation to students with the majority of intervention provided to student athletes; Provide effective resolution of psychological emergency situations via daytime and after-hours emergency coverage. Provide clinical services in CAPS-Athletics satellite office during hours determined to best meet the needs of student athletes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Earned doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from APA or CPA accredited program (ABD acceptable) by date of hire. 
2. Successful completion of APA or CPA accredited doctoral internship in professional psychology by start date of employment. 
3. Eligibility for registration as a licensed psychologist in State of Illinois within 18 months of start date of employment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed as a psychologist in State of Illinois or licensed psychologist in another state and is eligible to become licensed in Illinois within six months of employment. University experience.

 
COMPENSATION

 Includes a comprehensive benefits package, professional liability coverage, and salary commensurate with experience. 

The target salary offer for this position is $6,541.67 monthly. Final Salary offer will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.
