POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Central Michigan University Counseling Center has a full time academic year mental health counseling position available. The position is aimed at furthering the emotional health and well-being of CMU student athletes. This position is full time during the academic year with 10 weeks off over the summer months.
The Counseling Center provides free and confidential, short term counseling services to currently enrolled CMU students dealing with personal issues that may negatively impact their academic success, interpersonal relationships, health, or well-being. Services are provided in person and via tele-mental health and offered in a variety of formats. The Counseling Center recognizes that each student is a unique individual with different stories, experiences, and needs. This collaborative and supportive team environment offers an excellent work/life balance with a flexible work schedule and opportunities for creativity in student engagement. In addition to counseling services, this position allows for outreach to student athletes, coaches and other athletics department staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide culturally responsive and identity-informed individual and group counseling services in the Counseling Center to student athletes
Provides consultation and training as appropriate
Reports to the Executive Director of Counseling Services
Attends Counseling Center case consultation and staff meetings
Participates in pre-participation screenings for student athletes
Work schedule may include some evening and weekend responsibilities
