Montana State University Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) is seeking to fill two senior staff counselor positions to provide multiculturally attuned services to students, outreach and consultation to the entire campus community, and participate on a multi-disciplinary team that cares deeply for their work and supports each other. 

CPS is part of Student Wellness at MSU and works closely with partners in Student Health Services, Health Advancement, and Campus Recreation. Each of these departments is now located in the new Student Wellness Center to enhance services for whole person student health and well-being in a brand new facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Master’s degree in mental health counseling, clinical or counseling psychology, or social work.
  2. Credentialed as an PCLC or SWLC in Montana (post-degree supervision will be provided by licensed CPS staff members) and independently licensed by January 1, 2026).
  3. Demonstrated clinical experience working with adults including crisis assessment and intervention.
  4. Demonstrated experience working clinically with people from various backgrounds and beliefs.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Licensed as a LCSW or LCPC in Montana.
  2. Experience working in a university counseling center and/or demonstrated potential for the variety of tasks required.
  3. Experience providing outreach and consultation services on a university campus.
  4. Clinical experience working with crisis intervention and risk assessment, and safety planning.
  5. Area of specialized interest or expertise such as: substance abuse, group therapy, working with a specialized population, treatment of neurodivergent students, or other area of specialty.
  6. Experience working on an integrated, multidisciplinary team.
 
COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.
