POSITION DESCRIPTION

Rhode Island College is inviting applicants for the position of Counseling Center Clinician.  This is a full-time, calendar year, continuing position.

Full-Time Counseling Center Clinician will provide high quality, professional, and confidential individual and group counseling services to students utilizing the Counseling Center at Rhode Island College. The mission of supporting the RIC student body in fully developing their intellectual, emotional, and social potential, while helping to reduce distress, promote emotional wellness, enhance life satisfaction, and improve overall well-being is supported by this position.

Rhode Island College (RIC) is a public comprehensive institution of higher education in Providence, Rhode Island. Due to RIC being one of the most affordable colleges in New England, and it being primarily a commuter school, it draws in a student body that is vastly diverse. RIC was recently recognized by the department of education as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), which means that we have >25% of our total undergraduate full-time equivalent student enrollment identifies as Hispanic or Latinx. A high proportion of the student body identify as BIPOC. Many RIC students are first generation college students; many are immigrants/refugees or children of immigrants/refugees; the LGBTQ+ community is highly visible; and age diversity is strongly represented with a substantial number of students being in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. The diversity factors representative of the student body often informs presenting concerns that are not only clinical but also structural and systemic in nature. The Counseling Center offers a robust clinical training program. Our primary service to the campus community occurs through individual counseling, group counseling, and outreach programming.
Under the umbrella of the Center for Health and Wellness, the Counseling Center supports the RIC student body in fully developing their intellectual, emotional, and social potential, while helping to reduce distress, promote emotional wellness, enhance life satisfaction, and improve overall well-being.

 $80,000-$82,000
