We're excited to announce an opportunity for someone to make a real impact! This role will involve conducting intakes, providing counseling through a short-term therapy model, and offering vital crisis management support. You'll help students tackle personal challenges that may be affecting their academic success, social growth, and overall well-being at Penn College.

This position is governed by the terms of the bargaining agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. It follows the faculty schedule, including summer obligations, and the appointment will span Spring 2025 through the 2025-26 academic year. Join us in supporting students and shaping their future!

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum education and experience:

  • Master's Degree In Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related discipline.
  • Two (2) years' work experience as a counselor providing assessment and time-limited counseling and therapy
  • Experience in the development and implementation of treatment plans and the knowledge base needed to interpret psychological diagnoses within a short-term therapy model. 

Minimum abilities and skill: 

  • Strong crisis assessment and crisis management skills.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, parents/family members, faculty/staff, and the public.
  • Demonstrated understanding of ethical and legal issues in mental health practice.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in collaboration with interfacing departments.
  • Sensitivity to the needs and expectations of students, parent/family members, and faculty/staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Functional ability with computers and requisite software packages, and experience with electronic scheduling and record keeping systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and listening skills; sound judgment, initiative, and discretion.

COMPENSATION

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2024/25 academic year is $60,563 – $78,407. The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.
