POSITION DESCRIPTION
The
Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) at the University of Florida is seeking a full-time
mental health professional with experience in collegiate mental health who thrives
in an environment that values collaboration and support among team members and
will work with us to assist UF students cultivate their mental health in
support of their personal, educational, and career development.
We
are seeking a professional with experience and expertise related to a
wide-array of anxiety-related disorders; including generalized anxiety
disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorders, substance-induced anxiety
disorders, acute stress disorders, etc. at any point in their professional
development with a strong interest in working with domestic and international
students in a university counseling center. The counselor’s primary responsibility is to
provide direct clinical services, including group, individual and couples
counseling to University of Florida students. Potential colleagues should also have
experience working with a wide range of mental health concerns and levels of
severity. This professional is also expected to participate in the center’s
model of shared governance through the coordination of specific initiatives,
membership or chairing of committees or task forces.
We
are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the
following areas: assessment/psychological testing, biofeedback, neurodivergence,
alcohol & other drug use, trauma, disordered eating concerns,
attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, and/or psychotherapy and outreach
with students from a range of backgrounds.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

Development and implementation of anxiety-related programming
(i.e. group therapy, outreach, mental health events, etc.) to support all
university students.
·
Collaborating with CWC’s Mind & Body Lab Coordinator to
provide anxiety-related group and individual services within the M & B Lab
for university students.
·
Facilitating anxiety disorder-related consultation for CWC
clinicians who are providing anxiety treatment services at the CWC.
·
Developing strategic outreach programming and announcements
related to anxiety disorder programming at the CWC.
·
Providing compiled data/information related to anxiety service statistics
for students treated with anxiety disorders to the Associate Director for
Clinical Services.
·
Identifying and helping to organize various training opportunities
for counselors at the CWC providing anxiety treatment services at the CWC.
About the Counseling and Wellness Center
Mental health services at the University of Florida have historically held a
strong importance and distinction in the campus community. The CWC is one of
the oldest counseling centers in the country, established in 1931. The CWC is a
vibrant, multidisciplinary, multicultural, and creative center, actively
engaged in the furtherance and betterment of compassionate psychological
services, outreach, and training. The CWC is a dynamic part of the Division of
Student Life and is highly utilized by students and other campus constituents
seeking a variety of mental health services.
Our center
consists of 47 clinicians in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, and
counselor education. CWC is also home to a large training program for graduate
students in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education and a doctoral
psychology internship accredited by the American Psychological Association.
Members of our center are cohesive, collegial, engaged, and share a passion for
working in collegiate mental health. The CWC is a learning organization as
clinical service, training, outreach, and professional development are informed
by research, local data, and benchmarking with national trends and peer
institutions. The CWC identifies closely with the vision, values, and guiding
principles of the Division of Student Life.
The CWC
provides:

Group, individual, and couples counseling for students with
psychological, emotional, academic and/or relationship concerns
·
Crisis intervention for students experiencing a personal crisis or
emergency
·
Stress management and biofeedback services
·
Outreach, prevention, and educational programs for students,
faculty, and staff
·
Consultation services for students, faculty, staff, families, and
friends of students
·
Training and supervision to counseling, psychology, and graduate
students from pre-practicum through post-doctoral residency
·
Assessment and referral services
·
Teaching, research, and scholarship
