POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Provides direct individual, couple and group counseling services and mental health assessments to the Panama City Campus students.
  • Promotes mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and campus wellness through various appropriate outlets and events.
  • Provides walk-in emergency assessments, crisis intervention and intakes for students; provides clinical consultations to family members and campus community constituents.
  • Provides consultation regarding emotional, social, or academic issues as part of the Student Reaction Response Team (SSRT).
  • Completes intake summaries and emergency assessments progress notes and termination summaries according to Counseling and Psychological Services established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with the FSU Tallahassee campus Counseling and Psychological Services on all matters of University policy and procedure, especially with regard to documentation.
  • Maintains confidential files in accordance with HIPPA and FERPA guidelines.
  • Makes referrals for intelligence and personality tests and other psychological tests, some of which may be under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist.
  • May support internships for Social Work students and others in related training fields.
  • Participates in on-campus committees and activities where mental health counseling services play a part; provides outreach presentations to University community.
  • Promotes the free service to the student body through various activities and events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree or higher in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology. 
  • Valid Florida License in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Social Work.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience planning and facilitating holistic well-being programming initiatives.
  • Ability to deal with crises and manage sensitive information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to psychological counseling and assessment.
  • Knowledge of mental health evaluation instruments.
  • Skill in assessment and treatment of persons from diverse populations.
  • Ability to prepare, coordinate, and conduct workshops.
  • Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations
