The Psychological Health and Performance (PHP) Team at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder encourages applications for the Licensed Athletic Clinician! The Athletic Clinician will assist the PHP Team in the delivery of general psychological services (evaluation, treatment and education) to student-athletes competing for a highly competitive, Division I athletics program. Additionally, the individual in this role will provide consultation and relevant training to coaches, athletic trainers, academic staff, other athletic department staff and student-athletes within the realm of psychological services and mental performance. 

The Athletics Clinician will have demonstrated commitment, skills and experience in diversity and inclusion programming.

The successful candidate will be diligent, an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, and extensive experience working within an agency team. The ability to navigate complex systems while maintaining confidentiality and composure under pressure is vital in this role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

What We Require

  • Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work.
  • Licensed as a counselor or social worker, OR license-eligible and ability to obtain license in the State of Colorado within six (6) months of employment.
  • One year of clinical experience, post-licensure.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work.
  • Three to five years of clinical experience in sport, higher education, or mental health agency setting.
  • Experience in Division I intercollegiate athletics or with professional athletes
  • Advanced training in sport psychology (e.g., Association for Applied Sport Psychology, Certified Mental Performance Consultant; or member of the USOC sport psychology registry) preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of unique aspects of student-athlete population.
  • Experience, knowledge, and ability to treat trauma and trauma-related issues.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to conduct, AOD assessments, and ability to work with the student-athlete population on these issues.
  • Experience and interest in working with under-represented and underserved populations, applying a brief therapy model and crisis intervention.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision and training of post-doctoral residents, doctoral interns, and practicum clinicians.
  • Experience treating clients across various spectrums, including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, and economic status through a social justice lens.
 
COMPENSATION

What We Can Offer 

Starting salary range is $80,000 - $90,000. Relocation assistance is available within department guidelines.
