VEP Clinical Manager - 534324

Job Summary:

The VEP Clinical Manager works closely with the VEP Assistant Director in managing the administrative functions and day-to-day operations of the Victim Empowerment Program (VEP), consistent with VEP Guidelines and Procedures and CAPS Policies and procedures.

• The VEP Clinical Manager participates in managing the day-to-day operations of the Victim Empowerment Program (VEP), consistent with VEP Guidelines and Procedures and CAPS Policies and procedures, in collaboration with VEP Administrative Supervisor.
• Provides walk-in emergency assessments, crisis intervention and intakes for students. Provides consultations to family members and campus community constituents.
• Provides advocacy and case management coordination and support in collaboration with CAPS direct service providers, FIU PD, Student Health Services, Residential Life faculty, staff, other campus units and community providers.
• Provides direct trauma informed counseling services to University students including individual and group counseling; conducts clinical assessments, formulates case conceptualizations and treatment plans.
• Accompanies and/or transports students to hearings and appointments (virtually or in person) related to victimization and in support of student retention, including Rape Treatment Center, Domestic Violence Court, Title IX proceedings and other relevant meetings and locales.
• Participates in on call rotation in response to VEP crisis calls from Protocall after-hours answering service and other University officials, including FIU Police Department. Provides crisis intervention to FIU students including daytime, evening, weekend on campus and locations off campus as needed. Participates in supervising coverage/response to VEP crisis calls at request of VEP Administrative Supervisor.
• Focuses trauma informed clinical services around a wide range of personal concerns to promote healing and related to student's goals, needs, values, attitudes, interpersonal conflicts, educational, career choices within a multicultural/diverse university environment.
• Serves on relevant CAPS committees (e.g.,Quality Assurance, workshop/group therapy). Participates in VEP Clinical Weekly Case Staffing Meeting by contributing to agenda and hosting meeting at request of VEP Administrative Supervisor/CAPS Director.
• Recommends policies and operational procedures for VEP regarding all victims and recommends measures to ensure quality of care. Maintains professional standards according to state and federal guidelines governing such services.
• Recommends program enhancements including crisis intervention, advocacy, referral services, and trauma informed treatment modalities to VEP Administrative Supervisor/CAPS Director.
• Participates in supervising daily new case staffing, crisis interventions, safety planning and advocacy support services.
• Participates in support and supervision of VEP counseling cases (e.g., new intakes and treatment plans, treatment plan reviews)
• Contributes to professional development of VEP staff in best practices in advocacy and trauma informed individual and group counseling by remaining current with research in these areas and developing staff during supervision of cases.
• Participates in management of office tasks including audits of Direct Aid and VEP transportation logs; and other tasks as requested by VEP Administrative Supervisor and CAPS Director.
• Handles cash transactions as needed. Serves as secondary petty cash custodian.
• Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
• Performs other related duties as required or directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to this position.
