The Vassar College Counseling Service offers a 10 month, Post-Doctoral  or Post-MSW fellowship in college counseling. The fellowship provides an opportunity to gain experience working with a diverse student population at Vassar College, a residential, coeducational liberal arts college in Duchess County, NY. We seek a fellow who is committed to providing creative, collaborative, multicultural clinical service in a diverse college environment. The fellow will receive Post-Doctoral or Post-MSW hours and supervision towards meeting New York State licensure requirements.

Clinical Experience:
The fellow will build knowledge, sensitivity, and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and will gain supervised experience in each of the following areas: Brief individual psychotherapy, group therapy, intake assessment, case management, crisis intervention and emergency services, consultation, and inclusive outreach programming. The Vassar College Counseling Service has a strong group therapy program and typically offers 8-10 groups per semester. The fellow will be expected to co-facilitate two therapy groups with staff. Some evening and weekend hours should be expected, especially involving crisis intervention and outreach activities.

Both individual and group supervision will be provided by licensed psychologists and social workers who are staff members in the Counseling Service.

Located in the scenic Mid-Hudson Valley, Vassar College is a highly selective, residential, coeducational liberal arts college. Vassar stands upon the homelands of the Munsee Lenape.

Vassar College is deeply committed to increasing the diversity of the campus community and to promoting an environment of equality, inclusion, and respect for difference. The College is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer, and especially welcomes applications from veterans, women, individuals with disabilities, and members of racial, ethnic, and other historically underrepresented groups.

Vassar College is a smoke-free, tobacco-free campus.

Applications are invited from persons who expect to complete their doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology or masters in social work degree prior to the fellowship start date. The successful applicant should demonstrate a professional commitment and interest in multiculturalism and social justice, college counseling center work, and student development.
