Student Counseling & Psychological Services (SCAPS) is the primary mental health resource for Augusta University students. Our department is a highly valued and respected unit within the university.

We are a thriving and fast-growing department that has continued to expand our services and positions. This current opportunity is the result of new funding that has been allocated to continue to grow our department. SCAPS operates on two campuses within 2 miles of each other. We have a primary location on our Summerville Campus, and a Satellite Location on our Health Sciences Campus. We work together as a team to promote and provide services to all 8,500+ students all across our growing institution.

Primary responsibilities include the provision of individual, couples and group counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, and outreach programming to students. 

Maintaining adequate and appropriate documentation of counseling records. We utilize Titanium Scheduling Software.

Collaborating with other campus departments/offices, campus committees and student organizations to provide joint programming for students.

Providing training to appropriate campus organizations, faculty and staff regarding relevant mental health issues of college students.  Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director which may include serving in relief in the front office, campus training and possible outreach to community organizations and groups.

Supervising trainees and/or unlicensed clinicians

Currently, we do not require staff to provide routine after-hours emergency coverage.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements:

Psychologist - Doctoral degree from an APA-Accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or similar.  APA-Accredited Pre-doctoral internship is also required.  Applicants who are currently on their Pre-doctoral internship and who will graduate by Summer 2017 are strongly encouraged to apply, as well as those who are currently completing a post-doctoral experience. Applicants should be fully licensed to practice independently without supervision in the State of Georgia within two years of hire.

Additional Requirements:

Excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills

Knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Excellent analytical and customer service skills

Exercise sound judgment and make responsible decisions regarding clinical treatment and planning

Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment

Ability to maintain confidentiality

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience working in a university counseling center setting

Experience providing group and couples counseling

Experience and proficiency in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of mental health disorders

Experience providing crisis services, and treating severe and acute mental health concerns

Prior clinical experience and expertise with a diverse clinical caseload

Experience providing outreach presentations on issues relevant to college students

Administrative experience in coordinating programs

 
COMPENSATION

Maximum allocated salary for position is $65,000. Commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position.
