Cornell Health is a fully accredited ambulatory care center with more than 200 employees, committed to providing integrated and culturally sensitive medical, mental health, health promotion and public health services for the diverse Cornell community. It is nationally recognized for innovation and leadership in the development of integrated, cost-effective, and community-based services and campus health initiatives.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), is seeking a full-time, 10.5 month, Counselor Therapist Generalist. CAPS is a large (35+ staff) multidisciplinary service with primary responsibility for the mental health of the Cornell University community. CAPS provides services to approximately 4,500 students per year for more than 24,000 visits.

Responsibilities include individual and group psychotherapy, providing outreach services as well as consultation with faculty, staff, and parents regarding student mental health issues. We are interested in professionals able to treat A Variety of clinical needs for this populations as well as enhance the diversity/multiculturalism of our staff.


CAPS serves as the counseling/mental health service for students in the University community as well as the University’s consultant on numerous issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters in social work
  • Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology
  • Licensed or licensed eligible in New York State or other state or jurisdiction.
  • If applicable, license required in New York State within one year of the initial hire date.
  • Competency in one or more of the following areas: mental health administration, diversity and multicultural issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, and sexual assault trauma.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with electronic health record management systems
  • Experience working in an integrated ambulatory health care environment
  • Proficiency in Spanish or language other than English highly desirable
  • Demonstrated interest in serving Hispanic/Latino/a students
