POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Staff Counselor/Psychologist: Coordinator for Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Support Services provides leadership, visioning and direction around the coordination of substance use and abuse treatment, education and prevention for the University of Denver campus community. This includes but is not limited to specialized individual and group counseling for students/staff that are struggling with substance use or abuse issues, educational outreach, and collaborating with campus departments that frequently address substance use and abuse issues. Additionally, the AOD coordinator is a member of the Counseling Services senior staff and provides general counseling services, outreach, and supervision for the training program(s). This position collaborates with Health Promotion staff to ensure comprehensive, integrated prevention and intervention programming. Occasional evening and weekend programming/outreach is required.

 

This is a full-time, benefited, 40 hour per week position and reports to the Director of Counseling Services. The position requires some evening clinic hours until 7 pm and attendance at occasional evening outreach events.

 

Essential Functions

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • LCSW, LMFT, LPC.
  • Experience treating clients with alcohol and other drug related issues. 
  • Experience in substance use and abuse prevention and response services.
  • Experience with crisis management/intervention.
  • Experience providing counseling/psychotherapy/supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Inclusive Excellence.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • LCSW or Licensed Psychologist (licensed-eligible within three months of hire).
  • Leadership experience.
  • Experience working on a college campus.
  • Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), II or III.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision.
