The Purchase College Counseling Center invites applications for a full-time, 10-months staff counselor position beginning mid-August 2017. We seek a team-oriented generalist with strong clinical skills to address the cultural complexity and severity of college students' mental health needs. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated effectiveness in clinical interventions, group therapy, and outreach and activities with underrepresented populations, including but not limited to students of color, first generation, LGBTQ and intersectional students.

Clinical duties include provision of short-term therapy to individuals and couples; group therapy; crisis intervention, including phone rotation in after-hours coverage; limited case management; team treatment as needed.  Client records are maintained in Titanium Schedule. Additional duties in the Comprehensive Counseling Center model include: outreach programming and liaison work; psycho-educational programming; consultation to faculty, staff, and parents; supervision/training of graduate externs and interns; training for campus staff; campus service. The staff participate collaboratively with the Student Affairs Division and the campus at large.

Located 20 miles north of Manhattan in Westchester County, the campus sits on a 500-plus acre estate purchased by Gov. Nelson Rockefeller in 1967 to create a unique public arts college. Part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, Purchase combines conservatory training in the visual and performing arts with programs in the liberal arts and sciences. The college is home to the Neuberger Museum of Art, with modern, contemporary, and African art, and the Performing Arts Center, hosting hundreds of performances each year. The college gymnasium is home to a community fitness program, and features an Olympic swimming pool, three basketball courts,  weight room, climbing wall, bowling alley, racquetball courts, and an aerobic studio. In addition to excellent academic, arts, and athletics programs, Purchase offers close proximity to both metropolitan areas and natural spaces for exploration.
