The UCSB Academic & Staff Assistance Program (ASAP) promotes the emotional health and well-being of faculty, staff, academic personnel, and eligible family members in a confidential, cost free setting. We assist individuals and departments in managing and minimizing organizational and individual impacts on the workforce by providing high quality consultation, counseling, training, and violence mitigation services. This position is a year-long appointment for a post-doctoral Non-Physician Clinical Trainee in ASAP to provide consultation, short-term counseling, threat assessment and management, and psychological wellness training to faculty, staff, academic personnel, and eligible family members. An emphasis is placed on developing skills and enhancing professional identity as a psychologist, organizational and management consultant, in addition to other clinically-relevant scientist-practitioner roles.
The post-doctoral Non-Physician Clinical Trainee provides consultation that is primarily delivered to managers and supervisors regarding employees of concern and problematic departmental dynamics; counseling that is delivered in a short-term model with referrals to campus and community resources being an important component of therapeutic interventions; threat assessment and management services that include conducting training for faculty and staff regarding how to recognize and refer individuals of concern to appropriate services; and, develop and deliver psychological wellness training in conjunction with supervisor.
Time commitment is 40 hours per week with approximately 60-65% of the time as direct service. Start and end dates are flexible. Schedule is flexible within M-F 8-5 office hours. Occasional evening/weekend hours required to provide crisis intervention/debriefing services. A minimum of one hour of individual supervision and one hour of group supervision/case consultation per week is provided by the Manager of ASAP, a licensed psychologist.
