Trinity University invites applications for a full-time Mental Health Counselor position.  This is an ongoing, 10-month position (August-May) under the supervision of the Associate Director of Counseling Services.  The successful candidate will complement a strong, supportive team of professionals within the office of Counseling Services and the division of Student Life that is committed to the psychological needs and development of traditional age, residential students.



Provide short-term individual and group counseling.  

Screen clients for psychological disorders and refer for psychiatric evaluation, specialized treatment, and/or long-term therapy when indicated.  

Provide timely response to urgent requests for psychological intervention with

students during office hours and after hours through the on-call system.

Consult with parents, medical and mental health professionals, faculty, and staff.  

Provide outreach programming and training.

Collaborate with Counseling Services staff, faculty, staff, and administrators in various projects.

A master’s degree in counseling or clinical psychology, social work, or a related mental health field.  

Licensure at the master’s level (e.g., LPC, LCSW) or eligibility for licensure as a psychologist if not currently licensed.

Strong clinical, interpersonal, organizational, public speaking, and writing skills.


Experience in a university counseling center.  

Experience providing services for anxiety disorders, self-injury, and/or suicide prevention.

Experience working with a diverse population and multicultural issues.
