UIC John Marshall Law School, in partnership with Sankofa
Psychological Services, is pleased to invite applications for a one-year
full-time post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical or Counseling psychology. The Fellow will provide therapy and
assessment services to law students in a vibrant urban setting. Ideal candidates are expected to be keenly
sensitive to issues of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation,
disabilities, socio economic status etc. and to be skilled with techniques for
counseling students with diverse backgrounds.
Since its inception in 1899, John Marshall Law School has
been a leader in legal education with a “practice ready” approach. In partnership with Sankofa Psychological
Services, a private practice mental health center in Chicago, JMLS offers
students counseling for a wide range of issues including stress management,
anxiety, executive functioning, depressive disorders, and mental illness. The focus of treatment is strength-based,
insight-oriented, and skill-focused.
The Fellow will provide a range of services, including
individual therapy, group therapy, wellness workshops, cognitive assessment
testing, and psychological/emotional assessment testing. This one-year fellowship meets criteria for
licensure at the doctoral level as a clinical psychologist in Illinois. Requests for Fellows seeking out-of-state
licensure can usually be accommodated.
